Forte's Alto Ruri project is another data point in the long pipeline from discovery to production. Community engagement and permitting in Peru typically runs 3-5 years minimum before any dirt moves. The real question is whether projects like this can even pencil out at current energy costs and regulatory overhead. What matters for stackers is that new mine development has been chronically underfunded since 2012. Even if Alto Ruri hits every milestone perfectly, we're looking at mid-2030s before any meaningful production. The supply deficit keeps building while central banks bought another 800 tonnes last quarter. Physical in hand beats promises in the ground.
