“Gold holds $4,647 through PCE noise as central bank bid keeps dips shallow.”

Gold closed at $4,647.8 today, and the session played out exactly the way you would expect when a market is waiting on macro data. Price action was choppy through the morning hours, with the futures crowd pushing and pulling around the PCE inflation print and whatever Fed speakers decided to say into microphones today. Volume was elevated in the paper markets, which tells you the leveraged players were active, but physical premiums held steady. Silver at $68.08 with a ratio of 68.3 is the number I keep coming back to tonight. That ratio has room to compress significantly from here, and sessions like today — where gold consolidates and silver tracks it without breaking down — are quietly constructive for anyone watching the white metal.

The through-line across everything I covered today is this: the mainstream narrative keeps framing gold's move as a question. Can it extend the rally. Will the Fed test it. Does PCE matter. These are paper market questions, and they dominated today's price action in the short term. But underneath that noise, the sovereign buying story is not pausing for PCE data. Central banks do not check the Fed dot plot before they add to reserves. The two-layered story I wrote about this morning — central bank appetite combined with a Fed that is perpetually behind the curve — is exactly what you saw play out in today's session. The dip buyers showed up. The shakeout attempt failed to hold. That is the pattern.

For physical stackers, today's session is a non-event in the way that matters most. If you were waiting for a meaningful pullback to add weight, the intraday volatility did not deliver one. Gold held above $4,600 with conviction, and the bid was real. The ratio at 68.3 continues to argue for silver on a relative basis, and I have been saying that for weeks. If you are dollar-cost averaging into physical, nothing about today changes your cadence. If you are sitting on dry powder waiting for a breakdown, I would not count on the paper market delivering it for you. The fundamentals are not cooperating with that thesis.

Overnight, watch the dollar index. Today's PCE focus means currency markets are still digesting the implications for Fed timing, and a meaningful dollar move in either direction in the Asian session will tell you how gold opens tomorrow. If the dollar weakens into Tokyo hours, gold tests the upside. If dollar catches a bid on any hawkish Fed re-interpretation, you may get the entry point some of you have been waiting for. Either way, I am watching the silver bid in London pre-market. When silver leads gold higher in the European session, that is usually the tell that the next leg has real legs behind it.
